Since launching in 2022, the Essex Wellbeing Service (EWS) that Essex Working Well is part of, has supported more than 160,000 Essex residents. In 2025–26 the service has continued to expand, working with more specialist organisations to help people stay well, live independently, and feel more connected to their communities. In 2025 to 26, the EWS:

  • Exceeded its annual NHS Health Checks targets
  • Helped many people stop smoking through partnership work
  • Now provides a personalised, stigma free weight management service
  • Provided tailored lifestyle support to families
  • Supported carers and people to stay independent
  • Took action to reduce loneliness and isolation
  • Reached people who are less likely to use services
  • Increased support to employers
  • Exceeded its social value target by 11.9%

EWS is a free local service that helps people across Essex (excluding Southend and Thurrock) look after their wellbeing. It offers support to help people live independently for longer and prevent serious health problems. It works with Essex businesses through the Essex Working Well programmes to support employees’ health and wellbeing.

EWS is funded by Essex County Council and delivered by Provide Community in partnership with Age Well East, the Rural Community Council of Essex, HCRG Care Group and Priority Digital Health.
