Essex Working Well in partnership with Citizens Advice are  committed to support Quality Care Commissioning (QCC) who are supporting Essex residents and employees to live healthy, independent, and fulfilling lives. As part of this,  the Commission recognize that retirement is one of the most significant life transitions people experiences. While retirement can create opportunities for new interests, volunteering, travel, and spending more time with family and friends, it can also bring challenges relating to financial planning, health and wellbeing, social connections, identity, and purpose.

The information gathered through this questionnaire will help inform the development of future retirement support programmes and services, ensuring they are responsive to local needs and focused on promoting healthy ageing, wellbeing, financial confidence, social connection, and independence.

We are keen to understand:

How prepared you feel for retirement

The opportunities and challenges you anticipate

What information, advice, and support would be most valuable

How employers and local services can better support people through this important transition

What activities, resources, and community connections you would like to access both before and after retirement.

The questionnaire should take approximately 10–15 minutes to complete. Your responses will be treated confidentially and used only to help shape future retirement support initiatives within Essex.

The survey will be open until Thursday 1st October 2026
