The Mid-Essex Recovery College runs free courses and workshops that support people’s mental health recovery. The College provides a safe space for people to learn new skills, expand on existing ones, and attend courses developed to support mental health recovery. Co-production is a core feature of recovery college ethos; our courses are all co-produced by experts with lived experience of mental health, as well as individuals with professional experience of working for mental health services. All our sessions have a ‘Pass or Participate’ ethos where students can contribute as much or as little as they want when they are there.

All our courses are free to attend and open to anyone aged 18 and over who lives, work or studies in the Mid Essex area who have experienced or are experiencing mental health challenges themselves, are supporting someone else with their mental health challenges or who just want to learn more about the topics covered.

As always, we are delivering a varied timetable of courses and workshops both face to face and online.

For more information and to book courses please visit:  https://midessexrecoverycollege.co.uk/courses-and-workshops/

If you are working with someone who you feels would benefit from attending one of our workshops and you would like them to have some support to attend you can either email us or we are on Frontline and you can contact that way. We have supported students to access the college in several ways including them being accompanied to their first session by the professional they are working with.

Our Bite-size sessions for Wellbeing this month include sessions that give practical tips on the following subjects

  • Relaxation breathing
  • Journalling
  • Digital Wellbeing
  • Eating healthily for Recovery.

We are looking to develop some courses that look at Neurodiversity and as co-production is the heart of what we do we are inviting people to attend some co-production sessions to contribute their voice to the development of this course. If you would like to get involved there are two sessions running in May but if you are unable to make those, please email your interest and a member of the team will be in touch.

There are still spaces on our remaining April courses these include

  • Mindfulness and Compassionate Listening in Chelmsford
  • Mental health as we Age in Braintree
  • Two College walks
  • Creating Art in Maldon
  • LGBTQ+ co-production session where we are inviting people to help us determine if there is a need for a specific course to support Mental Health Recovery in the LGBTQ+ community and what that may look like

As always our courses are open to all who are aged 18 and over, are experiencing mental health challenges themselves, supporting someone else or who may just be interested in learning more about the topic. Courses can be booked through the website, by email or phone call to the College.
